Schools For Syria
There are more than 500,000 Syrian refugee children in Lebanon. Half of them are out of school and often forced to work in order to sustain their families. Schools For Syria, is an education project started by William Stuart, who decided not to turn his back to these kids. In 2019, Stuart started an afternoon Madrase in the Southern Lebanese city of Tyre where these refugee kids learn basic Arabic, English and Math, play and ultimately behave like children.

What We Do
Schools For Syria is a non-profit organization that runs an Educational Resource School in Tyre Lebanon for the poorest displaced Syrian child refuges who have flooded over the boarder into Southern Lebanon. These children had no access to any form of education and typically support their families by selling tissues, chewing gum and herbs on the street and live in tent camps. We presently have 420 students per day. We have 3 shifts of students, 5 days per week being taught by _ teachers. We offer these students fundamental studies in Math Arabic and English along with life sanitary skills with the aim to transfer our pupils into state school and where that is not possible, to educate them to a level where they can follow a vocational path.
Along with the educational studies we provide the children clothing through donation drives in Ireland and feed them a simple lunch every day, transport them to school and home and when funds and or supplies allow give them some basic food stuffs to take home to their families. Our goal is to increase the number of students and equip a kitchen where we can prepare their daily meal.
Through the generous donation of sports equipment and play cloths, we have included play time to allow the child time to have fun, something that was very rare in their life. Education and learning has provided these boys and girls with the sense of belonging and the pride of learning.
